A goal of the FAIR project is to improve the data basis of the Deutsche Wetterdienst (DWD). In this context, researchers from NES are investigating the suitability of simple IoT devices for the automated acquisition of temperature data at a large scale.
As a basis for the investigation, a construction manual for simple weather stations has now been published, which enables interested parties to build their own weather station based on the Arduino platform. In addition to the circuit diagrams, the instructions also include the files for 3D printing a housing and the source code for data acquisition and data transfer to the FAIR services for temperature data acquisition.
