On February 3rd, the members of the project consortium concluded the MoIn feasibility study on building a nationwide mobility index with its final presentation and demonstration. During the project, the members of the consortium analyzed the data availability and quality for different possible index criteria and further developed the initial use cases and applications that led to the project proposal. To systematically evaluate the scientific challenges and to showcase the economic potentials, the consortium successfully built several demonstrators that feature data from the 100 largest municipalities in Germany. As part of the project, the researchers from the Networked Embedded Systems group at the Universität Duisburg-Essen were developing efficient algorithms to support the index computation and were analyzing different metrics that can be used, e.g., to identify gaps in public transit networks.
