A goal of the FAIR project is to improve the data basis of the Deutsche Wetterdienst (DWD). In this context, researchers from NES are investigating the suitability of modern cell phones for the automated acquisition of temperature data at a large scale.
As a basis for this investigation, researches from NES have developed an app for Android-based mobile phones which has been published on Google Play*. The app enables all interested users to participate in the temperature data acquisition. In addition, the app delivers new global weather forecasts every day based on simulations by the DWD.
